A good time to talk about Bremer/McCoy after Jazz on 3 aired a snippet of ‘Ny Tid’ on last night’s show.

From the New Melodicists’ album Enhed (Raske Plader) recorded in Copenhagen during February 2013 the band fuse straightahead jazz, modality, and reggae flavours on the album that touches on spiritual-jazz the title of which translates as ‘Oneness’ or ‘Unity.’

Its a band made up of two musicians, both children of the 1990s, bassist Jonathan Bremer, an erstwhile Niels Lan Doky sideman who has played extensively in the last four years at Copenhagen jazz club Jazzhus Montmartre; and pianist Morten McCoy, who also plays Rhodes electric piano and Wurlitzer on the album. All the tunes were composed by the pair. Listen to ‘Afkald’, from Enhed, above.
