Paris festival Jazz à la Villette begins tomorrow and runs on until the 15th, and this year at Le Cabaret Sauvage there's a late-afternoon triple bill on 8 September the French are calling “super English tea time” featuring Gilles Peterson-endorsed Mancunian piano trio GoGo Penguin, hard boppers Empirical who have just released their latest album Tabula Rasa, and prog jazzers Troyka with guest Julien Lourau.

Also this autumn in Paris for Jazz à la Villette is Jamie Cullum who released his disappointing album Momentum earlier in the year his first since moving to Island; and other headliners at Jazz à la Villette include all conquering Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, John Zorn, Gregory Porter, Fatoumata Diawara, Bryan Ferry, Kenny Garrett, Seun Kuti, Shai Maestro, and Tigran.
