Christine Tobin pictured is to headline the Limerick Jazz Festival in Ireland next month appearing at the 69 O’Connell Street venue with guitarist Phil Robson and bassist Dave Whitford, in a line-up that also features Irish guitar icon Louis Stewart, known for his work as a member of the George Shearing trio and also Ronnie Scott’s quartet, who is to appear with pianist Jim Doherty. Also for Limerick are the Crisis Point Big Band, and the festival is also to present US saxophonist Larry McKenna with his quartet of fellow Philadelphian the vibes player Tony Miceli, bassist Damien Evans and drummer John Daly. Christine Tobin recently won the Herald Angel prize at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and is preparing to release a new Leonard Cohen-themed album A Thousand Kisses Deep.
