Canada Square Park home to the Canary Wharf Jazz Festival in London is already in full swing after last night’s opening gigs. Today in the afternoon it’s the quartet of the Jazz FM Award- winning Nathaniel Facey appearing from 1.30, followed by prog-jazz pacesetters Troyka, then the Afro-beat and reggae-influenced Soothsayers at 5pm. Smooth jazz saxophonist YolanDa Brown appears in the early evening, with violinist Omar Puente’s Raices Cubanas headlining tonight. Tomorrow it’s MOBO-winning pianist Zoe Rahman and her quartet in the afternoon first on; Jason Rebello who in the autumn will release his first album in six years; classic Joni Mitchell and Fran Landesman-influenced jazz singer Ian Shaw at 5pm; and another big Jazz FM Award winner this year, Carleen Anderson, appearing with her Soul Trio at 6.45.
