Grammy-winning US baritone saxophone star Gary Smulyan is to embark on a 13-date tour in late-September, with a gig itinerary shaped mainly around appearances in the south of England and in London, before the 57-year-old New York state-born player heads off for the next stage of his tour, to begin in Belgium. Dates are Harri’s Jazz, Shepperton (26 September); The Verdict, Brighton (27 Sept); The Crypt, Camberwell, London (28 Sept); Jagz, Ascot (29 Sept); Portsmouth Jazz Club, The Inn Lodge, Portsmouth (30 Sept); The Brook Theatre, Chatham (1 October); Swing Unlimited, Bournemouth (2 Oct); The Watermill Jazz Club, Dorking (3 Oct); Peterborough Jazz Club, Great Northern Hotel, Peterborough (4 Oct); Ronnie Scott’s, London at the Late Late Show (5 Oct); Chelmsford Jazz Club, Chelmsford (6 Oct); and Ronnie Scott’s, London, Late Late Show (7 & 8 Oct). Smulyan will appear with guitarist Nigel Price, organist Ross Stanley, and drummer Matt Home.
