It’s one of London’s ritziest jazz venues, located in the heart of the capital’s docklands financial district, with more corporate banks and finance houses on hand nearby than you could possibly imagine. Jazz, you would have thought, isn’t exactly foremost on the minds of these suits, though. Yet Boisdale Canary Wharf, the creation of jazz-loving Ranald Macdonald, manages to draw them in to the large jazz-friendly spot whose patron is boogie-woogie pianist and TV presenter Jools Holland. Coming up at Boisdale over the coming weeks are (selected highlights): regular draw John Colianni (Monday 12 August, also 19 Aug, & 2 September); the Rob Barron Trio (13 Aug); Ray Gelato Giants (24 Aug); club musical director Richard Pite pictured and his trio (9 September); Richard Busiakiewicz (16 September); Kym Mazelle (28 September); and Pete Long (30 September).
