The new season of jazz releases in the autumn is to include a new album from Jacqui Dankworth. Titled Live to Love, it’s the singer’s first album since It Happens Quietly came out two years ago. The new album, Dankworth’s fifth under her own name, to be released on the Specific Jazz label like its predecessor, includes songs by Wayne Shorter, Johnny Mercer, and Donny Hathaway, and is to be issued on 30 September. Dankworth’s husband Charlie Wood has written the title track ‘Live to Love’ while the ballad ‘All Is Quiet’ Dankworth has co-written with bassist Geoff Gascoyne features the Brodsky Quartet well known for their work with Elvis Costello. A new version of 'Tomorrow's World', one of the best loved compositions of her father's, the late Sir John Dankworth, is also a distinctive element of the album. Ahead of release Jacqui Dankworth appears at next month’s inaugural British Vocal Jazz Festival at Le Monde in Edinburgh performing with Todd Gordon on 25 and 26 August, and the singer will tour Live to Love in October.
