'Everything gonna be alright...' Mud Morganfield above

With a tagline the organisers J-Night riff off from the famed Blue Note label slogan so becoming “the finest in world jazz since 2000”, the three-day Hull jazz festival, which runs from Friday to Sunday, on opening night features Muddy Waters’ eldest son Mud Morganfield, a popular draw on the UK jazz and blues festival circuit this year, especially as 2013 is the centenary of his father’s birth. Hull jazz fest highlights, with all gigs taking place in the Hull Truck Theatre, also include the Courtney Pine band, Cuban violin ace Omar Puente in duo with pianist Al MacSween, and Manchester's very own Stuart McCallum.
