With the groundbreaking EST Symphony having premièred in Stockholm just last month the latest chapter in the burgeoning solo career of former EST drummer Magnus Öström will unfold on Monday 2 September when Öström’s latest album Searching For Jupiter is released. Put out by jazz indie ACT Jupiter follows Öström’s 2011 prog-flavoured debut Thread of Life, which included a rare guest appearance by Pat Metheny. Guitarist Andreas Hourdakis, pianist Daniel Karlsson, and bassist Thobias Gabrielson all feature on the new album alongside Öström building on his reputation as a player who knows how to join the dots between the thrillingly uncompromising jazz-rock of Tony Williams and the demanding dance floor grooves of drum ’n’ bass. Tracks include ‘Mary Jane Doesn't Live Here Any More’, ‘Hour of the Wolf’, ‘Happy and the Fall’, and ‘At the End of Eternity.’
