An audience with Lee Ritenour on Saturday 27 July is to be the first in a new regular monthly series at London jazz club Ronnie Scott’s. Smooth jazz don Ritenour will be talking about his career, demonstrating his own customised licks and runs, and answering questions from the audience. A club spokesperson says the club has been kicking the Centre Stage masterclasses or workshop idea around for a while now, and following Ritenour, the great Booker T Jones will be Centre Stage in the club on Saturday 17 August, with more names still to be confirmed. The afternoon sessions, with the first to be held at 2pm, the club says are a chance to get close to your idol, learn about their technique, influences, ask them questions, and meet them. “It’s something that will hopefully appeal to musicians and fans alike.”
