Keith Tippett, during a three-day residency at the Vortex from 15-17 August, will perform two world premières, the London club has announced. The first day performance will include an appearance with the Elysian Quartet and music to include Tippett’s string quartet, commissioned by the Elysian Quartet in 2008, and Tippett's 1995 work ‘Linuckea’ for piano quintet. The second night features the première of three-movement piece 'The Nine Dances of Patrick O'Gonogon', by Tippett's octet, with the composer on piano joined by Fulvio Sigurtà on trumpet/flugel; Sam Mayne alto/soprano saxophones; James Gardiner-Bateman alto sax/flute; Kieran McLeod and Robbie Harvey trombones; Tom McCready bass; and Peter Fairclough, drums. The third day sees the second première, with Tippett's wife vocalist Julie Tippetts and members of the Elysian Quartet joining Tippett for an evening of spontaneous composition.
