Cecil Taylor scoops “Japanese Nobel”
Cecil Taylor has been named as one of the winners of the Kyoto prize, a Japanese foundation’s award set up in the 1980s and awarded for global achievement, and seen as the Japanese equivalent to the Nobel prize. Previous composers to win the award include John Cage and Pierre Boulez.
