Marsden Jazz Festival unveils this year’s line-up

One of the most eye catching aspects of the Marsden Jazz Festival line-up this year has to be the inclusion of the Bourne Synthesiser show in a special festival exclusive. The most original jazz pianist to emerge on the scene since Django Bates, the Leeds-based polymath who with his trio Bourne/Davis/Kane next year will be part of the New Music Biennial draws on his “passion for analogue synthesisers and electronics” say the organisers who have gone the extra mile to put on this show. It’s sponsored intriguingly by the League of Gentlemen-sounding “Doctor Strange". Makes a change from the local cake shop. Also heading for Marsden (11-13 October) this autumn are: John Etheridge, Mick Coady’s Synergy featuring David Binney, Get the Blessing, the Laura Jurd Quartet, and Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra in a very well thought-through programme.
