Gwyneth Herbert, Claire Martin and Christine Tobin are to appear at the new British vocal jazz festival in Edinburgh hotel Le Monde

While it might sound as if there’s a beefeater at the gate and a hound by the hearth the new British Vocal Jazz Festival, part of this year’s Edinburgh festival fringe, has packed in some of the finest jazz singers around for August. Taking to the stage of Le Monde hotel on George Street the main concerts are each night followed by an After Hours set running through until the early hours. The main line-up includes Carol Kidd  (5-6 August), Ian Shaw (7), Gwyneth Herbert (8), Niki King (12), Clare Teal (13-14), Kate Dimbleby (15), Claire Martin and Joe Stilgoe (19-20), Christine Tobin (21), Ian Shaw with Guy Barker (22 Aug), and Todd Gordon/Jacqui Dankworth (25-26 August).
