The release of La Fenice, Keith Jarrett playing solo recorded on 19 July 2006 at the Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice will be issued on Friday 19 October, is quite simply an event.

Spread over two CDs, a suite of eight spontaneously created pieces features and in between Part VI and Part VII, Jarrett segues into ‘The Sun Whose Rays’ from The Mikado by W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan

‘My Wild Irish Rose’ features which will delight many as does the Victor Young/Ned Washington standard ‘Stella By Starlight’ and an eight-minute version of ‘Blossom’, first heard on the classic Jarrettonia, Belonging.
At the end of September the 62nd International Festival of Contemporary Music of the Biennale di Venezia honoured Keith Jarrett with its Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, the first time that a jazz musician received this award.
