A rumble of thunder and the quietness of rain, how they might sound as onomatopoeia in Japanese, are the order of the day on the latest album from pianist Helge Lien.

Guzuguzu, the title of his latest album due in late-April, is a Japanese onomatopoeic term for ‘moving slowly’. All that thundering and raining going on have their own terms too that Lien on this his ninth album has drawn on for titles.

A studio album recorded once again at the Rainbow studio in Oslo, all tracks according to pre-release information provided by the issuing Ozella label “emerge from the same melodic theme, constantly oscillating between improvisation and composition and combining the spirit of jazz with symphonic development.”

Joining the pianist are Frode Berg on bass and Per Oddvar Johansen on drums.
