A post-London Jazz Festival gig next week is on the cards for Phelan Burgoyne whose name has been on the lips of jazz insiders on the London club scene for a while but it’s only recently that the drummer actually made his debut.

Born in 1994 he studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Jeff Williams and Martin France and at the Jazz Campus in Basel with Jorge Rossy, Jeff Ballard, Larry Grenadier and Guillermo Klein. It’s his trio, with ex-ECM artist saxophonist Martin Speake and guitarist Rob Luft, that he surfaces with represented in the digital stream of the debut, above, on an airily spacious set of instrumentals entitled Unquiet Quiet. For their gig, at the Vortex in east London, which is taking place on Monday 21 November, click for tickets
