Amazon UK are posting 18 November for the vinyl version of pianist-composer David Virelles’ Antenna, a 5-track 10” EP also to be released for download.

The New York-based Cuban, who debuted as a leader for issuing label ECM with the outstanding Mbókó in 2014, overdubs and alternates his use of piano variously by utilising Hammond B3 organ, Roland JUNO-6, Vermona electric piano, Wurlitzer electric piano, prepared piano, programming and samples.

On the record he is joined by sampler Alexander Overington, the great Henry Threadgill on alto saxophone, Román Díaz, from Mbókó, on vocals, Vijay Iyer trio drummer Marcus Gilmore, Rafiq Bhatia on guitar, Etián Brebaje Man on vocals, Mauricio Herrera, percussion, and, intriguingly, as part of Virelles’ programming in which he creates Los Seres, a futuristic percussion ensemble.

One of the tracks, ‘Threshold’, is already on Gilles Peterson’s radar. For context click on the DJ/broadcaster’s particular tracklist in which it appears.
