I'm never sure how much is ever enough in terms of the sheer appetite of Keith Jarrett fans for his many recordings. And even more so with his label ECM constantly restocking the musical larder. Maybe it is because Jarrett constantly surprises and pulls off moments of enchantment no one can ever predict no matter now many of his albums you have heard. In any case expect many more live albums in the years to come recorded but unreleased. This feeling of discographical vastness is amplified with news of yet another spectacular release.

The details of A Multitude of Angels now to be released in November according to the Jarrett fan site has been put back from October. It is four CDs recorded in Italy in 1996 that according to the site “will have the complete improvised first and second sets of the following four solo concerts he performed in Italy in 1996. A few encores from certain of the concerts are included where the overall timing for each CD allowed. These were the last four solo concerts Keith ever performed in Europe at which he performed two long continuous sets like the Köln Concert, Paris, Vienna and La Scala concert recordings. These were also the last concerts he performed before he stopped performing for 2 years when he was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.”
