There’s a sunny jazz-funk vibe to Resolution 88’s new album Afterglow released today. Out on Bluey from Incognito’s label Splash Blue, the band’s keyboardist Tom O’Grady points the way to their approach saying they're “Rhodes-based, with nods to Herbie, Headhunters, Weather Report as well as more modern influences such as broken beat.”

The four piece, consists of O’Grady, who is depping on keys for Incognito this autumn; bassist Tiago Coimbra who studied at Berklee and toured with Hiromi; drummer Ric Elsworth who studied at Chetham’s in Manchester and the Royal College of Music; and saxophonist Alex Hitchcock who studied on a postgraduate jazz course at the Royal Academy of Music.

The band launch the album at Northcote Records in London on Sunday 11 September. VENUE link
