Sony have been scooping up some major talent lately with both Till Brönner and Avishai Cohen signing on the dotted line.

And now singer Kurt Elling is joining them with his first album for the label, and the major’s jazz imprint OKeh, titled The Beautiful Day, a Christmas album, to be released in late-October.

Elling says: “I am very excited about starting a new relationship with OKeh. OKeh A&R head, Wulf Muller reminds me of the late Bruce Lundvall in his enthusiasm for the music and his love for his artists. Wulf has been a friend of mine for years and I know that I will have his full support moving forward both as an artist and a business partner.”

It’s a quintet recording with Kurt Elling joined by pianist Stu Mindeman, bassist Clark Sommers, guitarist John McLean and drummer Kendrick Scott.

Elling will be playing Ronnie Scott’s in the autumn from 7-12 November.
