Rapidly becoming the main dedicated jazz radio media in the country, DAB station Jazz FM have announced a few fine tunings in their coverage for the autumn. Here’s their website’s take on the changes:

Jazz FM is introducing more new specialist programmes into a refreshed schedule from Monday 15th August, including new shows for stalwart broadcasters Helen Mayhew and Sarah Ward.

A year after its launch, Helen Mayhew takes control of True Brit (Thursday 6pm), whilst also creating a new Friday night programme – ‘Late Night Jazz’ - joining Chris Philips and Jez Nelson’s 10pm weekend strands allowing her to dig deep into her extensive library of classic and contemporary jazz.

‘The Sarah Ward Collection’ (Sunday 7pm) also allows Sarah to curate 3 hours of beautiful music.

Saturday nights (from 6pm) sees the long awaited return of Funky Sensation with John Osborne presenting 4 hours of jazz funk and soul party tunes.

Ruth Fisher will present 'The Performance Series' (Monday 6pm) bringing live jazz recordings and Jazz FM sessions to life in addition to her ‘Full Circle’ programme and Chris Gilvear will now host weekend breakfast (6am Saturday & Sunday.)

Content Director Nick Pitts said, “Our new schedule gives our audience more of what they want. Having Helen, Chris and Jez spearheading our specialist output, we have weekend late nights that really are appointments to listen”

He continued “I’ve been wanting Funky Sensation permanently back on air for some time and we have big plans for it. Every time the brand gets an outing – either on air or at a live party night – it gets a phenomenal response, and having John with his club night heritage at the helm gives the programme real credibility.”
