Cuban violinist Omar Puente, singer Gwyneth Herbert (above) and tradsters Kansas Smitty’s are part of the jazz strand of the 2016 Kings Place festival which runs over the weekend of 9-11 September in several locations spread throughout the central London venue Kings Place. The festival also embraces art, food, classical music, comedy and spoken word among the programming.

Other jazz acts include the Aki Rissanen Trio and Jasper Høiby whose new album Fellow Creatures is released this month. The festival this year also features performances from the Brodsky Quartet playing Shostakovich, Mendelssohn and Beethoven, and the London Chamber Music Society who present the UK première of Penderecki’s Flute Quartet performed by the Chilingirian Quartet and Massimo Mercelli.
