There are some choice exclusive concerts planned for the Bath music festival (20-29 May) this spring with a series of gigs that draw on potent musical contrasts emanating from different cultures that spark new ideas and beginnings.

Indian classical voice meets avant jazz bass in the pairing of Seb Rochford collaborator Ranjana Ghatak and Liran Donin, best known for his work with the Ornette Coleman-inspired punk jazz band Led Bib on 26 May.

No stranger to Bath, folk guitarist Alasdair Roberts collaborates with melodeon player Andy Cutting on 27 May; while Scots duo Twelfth Day, a harp/fiddle combo playing in tandem with the zither-like kanun player Maya Youssef is the third of these specially commissioned concerts on 28 May, all at the historic Regency spa’s Masonic Hall venue.
