Hosted by author Kevin LeGendre, a Jazz Salon this month helps deliver some much needed spirit and life back to the Charing Cross Road, the heart of which has been ripped out for Crossrail, to be called the Elizabeth Line when it opens later this year, it's just been announced, a dramatic transportation transplant changing the pulse and beat of life and work in the area.

At Foyles, itself now well established in fine new premises where the art college used to be next to the echoing emptiness of the old place, the event is described on the book shop’s site as “a series of intimate performances and meditations on the cultural reverberations of jazz.”

Presented by Tomorrow’s Warriors this month’s central London-located event features trumpeter Yazz Ahmed who joins bassist Gary Crosby and the Salon house band on 26 February.

There’s a link at the Foyles website to further details and more on what’s planned to follow moving into the spring.
