Music awards season is well under way, and the latest national nominations announced in Scandinavia are the Norwegian Spellemann prize and Swedish Grammis shortlists.

Spellemann nominees include Gard Nilssen’s Acoustic Unity for Firehouse; Mathias Eick for Midwest; Megalodon Collective for Megalodon; Møster! for When You Cut Into The Present; and Team Hegdal for Vol. 3. Meanwhile in the folk/traditional music category the Nils Økland Band have been nominated for Kjølvatn while Morten Qvenild is among the nominees in the open class for Personal Piano. 

In Sweden, Grammis nominees include a co-led album by singer Cæcilie Norby and bassist Lars Danielsson and new work by Fredrik Kronkvist, Oddjob, Per Texas Johansoon and Peter Asplund. The full Grammis list is here
