The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra directed by Tommy Smith plus special guests singers Eddi Reader and Gráinne Holland are to explore new arrangements of traditional Scottish folk-derived material in Alba: Songs of Scotland on Burns Night at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall.

Part of the huge Celtic Connections festival which is a significant annual landmark of cultural life in Glasgow the Alba project, which was first premiered last year, is described as a love poem to the Scottish nation. Gaelic ballads and the work of Robert Burns and Edwin Morgan are among the Alba sources of inspiration drawn upon.
