The founder of a new organisation grouping together community station jazz radio presenters to form a profile-raising network is Rhys Phillips, a Radio Cardiff community station presenter pictured above.

The network describes itself as “promoting UK based independent and voluntary jazz radio presenters.” It also aims, according to its statement of intent, to serve as a “focal point for artists, agents, labels and others to submit new music” and to “share ideas... between members.”

So far there’s a website and a “UK Jazz Presenters” Twitter handle.

Joining Phillips as members are Aja and Claire (Electric Lion Radio), Grace Black (K107FM), former Jazz Services director Chris Hodgkins (Jazz London Radio), Mike Howard (The Jazz UK) and drummer Ollie Howell (Jazz London Radio) already listed on the network’s site plus singer Todd Gordon, web radio presenter Peter Slavid, Johnny Moody (another Jazz London presenter) and flautist Rowland Sutherland.

The UK Jazz Presenters Network website also lists a broadcast schedule of presenters’ programmes and links to the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association.
