Sharing the billing in the artist designation with his newly formed group the Marvels, sax icon Charles Lloyd’s new album I Long To See You is to be released in early 2016. The cover of the album is above.

It’s a quick turnaround for issuing label Blue Note who signed the hippie jazz legend after his long tenure on ECM. Wild Man Dance, Lloyd’s first album under the new deal, was released in April this year.

The release date period is mid-January and this is a new band. Lloyd retains his long-tjme quartet bassist and drummer, Reuben Rogers and Eric Harland respectively, now also adding guitars, with Bill Frisell joining as does Greg Leisz on pedal steel.

There is also a feature of vocals on some tracks. Big selling Blue Note label star Norah Jones sings on ‘You Are So Beautiful’ while country music icon Willie Nelson also adds a vocal flavour to this latest chapter in Lloyds recording career.

Tracks include Bob Dylan’s ‘Masters of War’, the hymn ‘Abide with Me’ and Lloyd classic ‘Sombrero Sam’ from Dream Weaver, one of the Memphisian's greatest albums.
