Prolific Italian jazz pianist Enrico Pieranunzi has a couple of new albums this autumn.

One of these, Tales From The Unexpected, is a live recording of his own compositions drawing on a concert performed in the Gütersloh theatre in Germany. It features the Italian’s trio with the Dutch double bass player Jasper Somsen and French drummer André Ceccarelli. Another new Pieranunzi album, Proximity, with Americans Donny McCaslin, Matt Penman and Ralph Alessi, is also released this month.

The seventh track, The Surprise Answer from Tales From The Unexpected released by Double Moon is above. Other recent recordings of Pieranunzi’s include Stories reviewed here
