Moses Boyd, above, Elliot Galvin, Zoe Gilby, Anton Hunter, Hyelim Kim, Zara McFarlane, Cath Roberts and Craig Scott are the eight musicians selected for Take Five Edition XI it’s just been announced.

The mentoring scheme provides participants with tailored one-to-one mentoring sessions and a residential period exploring areas such as composition, performance, communications, business infrastructure and strategic direction. John Cumming director of Serious, says: ‘Serious is thrilled to be able to announce the eleventh edition of Take Five: UK and to express our appreciation to the funders of this scheme – Jerwood Charitable Foundation, PRS for Music Foundation, Help Musicians UK and Arts Council England – who continue to support one of the most vital opportunities for the UK’s creative jazz musicians. This year, Take Five has become part Seriously Talented, Serious’ portfolio of formal professional development programmes. We are happy to present over 40 Seriously Talented artists representing all of our professional development programmes in this year’s festival – all strutting their stuff in a variety of performance contexts, including the premiere of a number of new commissions.’

During the London Jazz Festival which begins on Friday artists involved with the scheme under the Seriously Talented banner will perform with artists from the UK and Swiss, European, Scottish and AfroCaribbean versions of the scheme also involved coming together on Sunday 15 November in the Clore Ballroom of the Southbank Centre with an afternoon featuring artists who include members of the current intake, six piece The Spirit Farm led by Adam Fairhall, the trio of Marc Perrenoud and Traces led by Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian.
