Norwegian sax star Håkon Kornstad who appears at Kings Place during the London Jazz Festival on 20 November has a new album called Tenor Battle out. No not the typical kind of thrusting tenor sax battle but one that blends jazz and opera. Who knew the kid could sing?

Inspired by a trip to New York six years ago when he heard Cavalleria Rusticana at the Met, Kornstad went on to train at the Norwegian Opera Academy and has several operatic roles under his belt this year and into next.
