GRP co-founder and producer Larry Rosen has died at the age of 75. His death was confirmed by his publicist. He had been suffering from brain cancer.

Rosen, who founded fusion label GRP with Dave Grusin (whose surname is another initial in the label name) achieved great commercial and Grammy success with the label in the 1980s with a roster that included Chick Corea, Lee Ritenour and Diane Schuur.

Rosen began his career in the music industry in the 1970s having studied at Manhattan School of Music in the city of his birth, New York. GRP was sold to Universal in the 1990s but Rosen remained CEO of the label for five years before setting up Internet company N2K. In more recent years he established a concert and educational programme called Jazz Roots.
