Receiving a UK release on CD in September this is a delicious sighting of saxophonist Andy Sheppard in a very spatial “old school Nordic” setting that might well appeal to Masqualero fans.

Sheppard who is touring in Ireland this autumn appears on Earth Still an album led by Norwegian trumpeter Tore Johansen which was released in Norway earlier in the year.

Johansen has gathered around him an incredible band – besides Sheppard and the leader, bass is Arild Andersen, piano, nu-jazz innovator Bugge Wesseltoft, and on drums Gard Nilssen – for an album that amounts to the prodigious trumpeter’s fifteenth recording in as many years since surfacing with Karin Krog back at the turn of the new millennium.
