Another day, another track, this time ‘The Curtain’ the fourth track, above, from the extraordinary new orchestral jazz record Sylva. At this rate the whole album will be up on Vevo. Here’s hoping at least.

The Grammy-winning band Snarky PuppyMetropole Orkest combine on this new album to be released by Impulse later this month. Here they carve out a new musical space super-sizing their efforts with what uncannily at times conjures an imaginary 21st century musical summit meeting involving John Barry and Weather Report taking detours along the way to join the dots of the hooky chords of Miles Davis’ ‘So What’ and swampy New Orleans-flavoured street funk on ‘Atchafalaya.’ The Metropole are conducted by Jules Buckley who along with Puppy bass supremo Michael League has arranged the material. ‘Gretel’, the fifth track of the six on the album which is released on 20 April as a CD/DVD, can also be listened to above
