Let It Be Told, a new album by Julian Argüelles with the Frankfurt Radio Big Band featuring Django Bates and Julian’s drums-playing brother Steve Argüelles, is to be released next month.

To be issued by Basho Records, the London jazz independent label whose current roster includes The Impossible Gentlemen and Trish Clowes, this latest release was recorded in 2012 at Hessicher Rundfunk in Frankfurt am Main.

Argüelles conducts the Frankfurt Radio Big Band on this latest work, six years on from their earlier collaboration Momenta also released by Christine Allen and Max Steuer’s label, on that occasion featuring pianist Gwilym Simcock.

Let It Be Told has a pronounced South African theme including new arrangements of compositions by Dudu Pukwana, Mongezi Feza, Johnny Dyani, Miriam Makeba, and of Abdullah Ibrahim’s ‘The Wedding’. Soloists include Heinz Dieter-Sauerborn, Oliver Leicht, Tony Lakatos, and Martin Scales. SG
