Dave Liebman features on a fiery new quartet album that finds the distinguished player in the company of pianist Aki Rissanen, bassist Jori Huhtala, and drummer Jussi Lehtonen to be released by the German Ozella label in April, the same month as Jazz Talks with Swiss trio Vein also featuring Liebman appears.

Lehtonen matches the ex-Miles Davis saxophonist’s appearance on 1970s album On the Corner with his own piece ‘In the Corner’ the eighth track of Aki Rissanen/Jussi Lehtonen Quartet with Dave Liebman recorded over a few days of late-April 2013 in the studios of the Finnish broadcaster YLE.

The album begins with a homage to Russian composer Scriabin. And you can hear the quartet perform the Rissanen piece among other material in the live video above.
