To be released digitally in a download version in March and then on CD in the autumn The Feel Good Place is the new album from the Tim Thornton Quartet.

Set to be released by Huddersfield indie label Jellymould, the bassist – whose commanding sound is in the Oscar Pettiford-Christian McBride lineage – is joined by Bristol scene alto sax player James Gardiner-Bateman, soulful Australian pianist Grant Windsor, and drummer Chris Draper, Windsor and Draper both featuring on Thornton’s well received album New Kid released three years ago.

The Feel Good Place is made up mostly of Thornton’s tunes plus an arrangement of a Paul McCartney song. The quartet will be appearing at Ronnie Scott’s for some Late Late Show dates next month ahead of release and you can catch Thornton tomorrow jamming upstairs in Ronnie’s bar appearing in the band of trumpeter Andy Davies.
