Music from cult big band album Tales of the Algonquin is to be performed by John Surman and John Warren (the writer of all the music on the album) next month.

The 1971 album – the soloists on which included the late Kenny Wheeler, saxophonist Mike Osborne, and of course Surman – is shaped around a five-part suite, and is the inspiration for the concert in which Surman and Warren are to be joined by the Southampton Youth Jazz Orchestra directed by Dan Mar-Molinero on Sunday 8 February.
