To be recognised with a lifetime achievement award at the 2015 Grammys Wayne Shorter’s enduring influence on jazz globally is also clearly felt once more with the surfacing of the Wild Flower sextet.

Headed up by saxophonist Matt Anderson, with trumpeter Laura Jurd, guitarist Alex Munk, pianist Jamil Sheriff, bassist Sam Vicary, and drummer Sam Gardner all on board, Wild Flower Sextet are inspired by the Newark jazz great and the band plays Wayne material all freshly arranged and served up. Huddersfield jazz indie Jellymould Jazz are to release the band’s new album in February. Their tour begins at the Hive in Shrewsbury on 17 January.
