Joined by Oren Marshall and Mark Sanders new Martin Speake live album The Quiet Mind has now been confirmed for a late-January release.

Six years in the can, recorded at the Oxford pub in Kentish Town, a popular north London hostelry and playing hub incidentally with the go-ahead Loop Collective, the album, to be issued on 26 January, is made up of three extended improvisations.

Last we heard of the Konitzian Speake was in September and the release of Sound Clouds, a duo album on which the saxophonist was joined by classical pianist Douglas Finch.

Speake’s Pumpkin Records, who are also releasing this new freely improvised album, last year issued Always a First Time a double album at the heart of the current New Cool School revival, a potent reminder once more of a formidable improviser at work.
