Van Morrison’s next album will not be on Blue Note, the veteran singer-songwriter, who will turn 70 in 2015 and whose selected lyrics have just been published, opting to move to the Sony-owned RCA Records.

RCA suits Tom Corson and Peter Edge say they are “thrilled” to have Van, whose last album was 2012’s Born to Sing on the roster, with Morrison commenting via his official website: “I am looking forward to working with Tom, Peter and the RCA team as we plan release of the new project for next year.”

Morrison is in residence at Vince Power’s new club Nell’s in London for three nights from tomorrow
