Moving to new label Sony-owned Legacy, Cassandra Wilson will begin the next phase of her recording career with a Billie Holiday-themed album.

7 April 2015 marks the centenary of the birth of Billie Holiday, and Wilson’s homage to Lady Day will be issued by Legacy in the spring to coincide, the label has confirmed.

Titled Coming Forth By Day, the album has been produced by Nick Cave producer Nick Launay, and was recorded in Los Angeles’ Seedy Underbelly studios with personnel including members of the Bad Seeds and featuring strings arranged by Van Dyke Parks.

Wilson’s last album, for the eOne label, was Another Country released two years ago.
