Pianist Steve Lodder, well known for his work as a sideman with Andy Sheppard, John Harle, Monica Vasconcelos and Carla Bley, has a new solo piano album called ...tied Up With Strings to be launched at the London Jazz Festival on 19 November at Camden venue the Forge following its CD release by saxophonist John Harle’s Sospiro Noir label a few days’ earlier. With material ranging from a piece of music written in the 14th century, through the second movement of Bach’s Italian Concerto, to Motown, and Lodder’s own compositions, …tied Up With Strings is subtitled “favourite things for solo piano,” and was recorded over two days in July last year at the Old Malthouse studio in Kent.
