Coleridge Goode

At this month’s London Jazz Festival the upcoming 100th birthday of bassist Coleridge Goode will be celebrated during a special evening to be held in the Purcell Room.

Goode’s career goes back to playing with Django Reinhardt and Joe Harriott, his stylistic range just as at home playing ‘freeform’ with Harriott as swing with Django.

The event to be held on Friday 21 November will feature a band that includes bassist Gary Crosby and trumpeter Byron Wallen, with new stars in the making also to appear, among them drummer Moses Boyd and guitarist Shirley Tetteh.

BBC broadcasters Kevin Le Gendre and Alyn Shipton and Goode’s biographer Roger Cotterrell are also to add their tributes to the widely admired bassist.
