Robin Williamson

Incredible String Band legend Robin Williamson has a new album out next month, Trusting in the Rising Light, an album of the singer-songwriter, harpist and guitarist’s own tunes and lyrics joined on this new album by violist Mat Maneri, and drummer/vibist Ches Smith.

The album was recorded in January this year in Monmouth studio Rockfield, slightly incongruously the same place that Oasis recorded Britpop classic (What’s The Story) Morning Glory. Williamson’s ‘Just West of Monmouth,’ with fine whistle, spoken word, and an improv flavour is a highly poetic high point first listens suggest with the enchanting title track and the shuffling ‘Roads’ the more accessible songs. Produced by Steve Lake it’s the fourth album for ECM by the Edinburgh-born 70-year-old, eight years on from the release of The Iron Stone. Robin Williamson, above. Photo Steve Lowe / ECM
