The Neil Cowley trio Touch and Flee tour reaches Tyrone tonight, the latest date in the first Neil Cowley trio Northern Ireland regional tour, with an appearance in Omagh at the Strule Arts Centre, moving on to Portstewart to wrap up the tour tomorrow at the Flowerfield Arts Centre before switching to the continent and hitting Munich on Saturday night.
Last night at the Ardhowen theatre show in Enniskillen, their first in Fermanagh, a surprise highlight of the first set, comprised of material from new album Touch and Flee, was ‘The Art’ a tender duo feature between Cowley and gifted Aussie bassist Rex Horan, while the pick of the second filled with “the hits” from earlier albums (see band set list, above), was ‘Box Lily’ from 2010 album Radio Silence.
Cowley has just been confirmed as the host of a new six-part TV series, Jazz@Metropolis, a magazine show to be filmed next month at the Metropolis recording studios in west London. Artists taking part include Kurt Elling, Arun Ghosh, and Get the Blessing. SG
