A big ask: Bruce Weber’s documentary Let's Get Lost, the story of the decline of Chet Baker is one of the great films about jazz. Documentary here even managing to eclipse the ample dramatic potential and imaginative power of a feature film.

A new biopic, Born to be Blue, riffing on the title of the Mel Tormé/Robert Wells song Chet recorded on the 1965 Limelight album Baby Breeze, has been cast, with Ethan Hawke to play the trumpeter. Director Robert Budreau, who has also written the screenplay, has clearly got his work cut out.
