Pat McManus 3

A different kind of trad to the jazz variety found the great blues-rocker Pat McManus on really fine form playing violin exclusively at Magee’s Monday traditional Irish music session in Enniskillen pictured here with Gabriel McArdle, button (and also on box) accordion, and guitarist/singer Conor Magee. The crowd, dancers among them, really responded to the reels, rhythm, and more popular repertoire the musicians played in the course of an extensive set that constantly reinvigorated itself. Guests were guitarist Mo Collins of local blues band Sidewalk Boogie, who duo-ed with McManus on the famous melody set to WB Yeats’ ‘Down by the Salley Gardens’, and singer Paddy Shannon, a natural balladeer. The seisiún, a must for local fans of traditional Irish music and visitors to the town, takes place again next Monday from 10pm.
