A new hardback book about Blue Note Records, officially endorsed by the label, is on its way in the States next month with a UK/Ireland publishing date, according to Amazon of 3 November. Written by Scotland-based writer Richard Havers and published in this the 75th anniversary year of Blue Note Uncompromising Expression is “the first official illustrated story of the label,” according to the publisher, Thames and Hudson in the UK. Classic album artwork, unseen contact sheets, and ephemera from the Blue Note archives are included, plus comments and views from jazz legends plus dozens of key albums spotlighted and discussed in the text.
